بعد أن قتلت «الشموسة» 10 أردنيين في 48 ساعة بالاختناق أعلن جهاز الامن العام حالة الاستنفار ونشر فرقه في الأسواق لسحب مدفأة الغاز «الشموسة» من الأسواق ومنع بيعها، وأغلق ثلاثة مصانع تنتج هذه المدفأة.

ودعا المتحدث باسم مديرية الأمن العام في الأردن المواطنين كافة ممن يملكون المدفأة المتعارف عليها بالشموسة وأنواعها كافة إلى إيقاف استخدامها على الفور وعدم إشعالها داخل المنازل تحت أي ظرف كان، بعد أن ثبت أن حالات الاختناق التي وقعت اشتركت فيها نوع المدفأة ذاتها.

وأعلنت مؤسسة المواصفات والمقايسس أنها منعت المصانع المحلية للمدافئ وعددها ثلاثة من بيع المدافئ في السوق المحلية بانتظار نتائج الفحوصات الفنية التي تجريها الجمعية العلمية الملكية على عينات منها إثر حوادث الاختناق ووفاة عدد من الأشخاص، كما تم التحفظ على الكميات الموجودة لديها.

وقالت المؤسسة في بيان إنها وبالتعاون مع مديرية الأمن العام تحفظت حتى الآن على أكثر من 5,000 مدفأة من ذلك النوع، وأرسلت عينات عدة منها لفحصها في الجمعية العلمية الملكية، علماً أن هذه المدافئ مطروحة منذ سنوات في السوق المحلية ويتم إنتاجها محلياً ولا يتم استيراد أي كميات منها.

وطالب رئيس لجنة التوجيه الوطني والإعلام في مجلس النواب الدكتور حسين العموش، اليوم (الأحد)، في مذكرة نيابية بإقالة وزير الصناعة والتجارة على خلفية قضية المدافئ التي تسببت بوفاة 10 أشخاص خلال يومين، جراء حوادث الاختناق.

وقال العموش إنه سيطالب الحكومة أيضاً باستقالة مديرة مؤسسة المواصفات والمقاييس، مبيناً أن ذلك يأتي من باب تكريس نهج المسؤولية الأخلاقية، التي تقضي بتحمّل الجهة او المؤسسة أو الوزارة المعنية عند حدوث خطأ في مكان ما المسؤولية باستقالة الشخص الأول المعني بهذه الجهة.

After the "Shamusa" caused the deaths of 10 Jordanians in 48 hours due to suffocation, the Public Security Directorate announced a state of alert and deployed its teams in the markets to withdraw the gas heater "Shamusa" from the markets and prevent its sale, and closed three factories producing this heater.

The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate in Jordan called on all citizens who own the heater known as Shamusa and all its types to stop using it immediately and not to ignite it inside homes under any circumstances, after it was confirmed that the suffocation cases that occurred involved the same type of heater.

The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization announced that it has prevented the three local heater factories from selling heaters in the local market while awaiting the results of the technical tests being conducted by the Royal Scientific Society on samples of them following the suffocation incidents and the deaths of several individuals, and the quantities in their possession have been seized.

The organization stated in a statement that, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, it has so far seized more than 5,000 heaters of that type, and sent several samples of them for examination at the Royal Scientific Society, noting that these heaters have been available in the local market for years and are produced locally with no quantities imported.

The head of the National Guidance and Media Committee in the House of Representatives, Dr. Hussein Al-Amoush, today (Sunday), in a parliamentary memo, called for the dismissal of the Minister of Industry and Trade in light of the heater issue that led to the deaths of 10 people within two days due to suffocation incidents.

Al-Amoush stated that he would also demand the resignation of the director of the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization, indicating that this comes as part of establishing a principle of moral responsibility, which dictates that the concerned party, organization, or ministry should bear responsibility by having the top person in charge resign when a mistake occurs somewhere.
