تراجعت أسعار السكر لدى محال التجزئة المصرية إلى أدنى مستوى لها في نحو 25 شهرا، وتحديدا منذ نوفمبر 2023، مدعومة بارتفاع قياسي في المعروض من الإنتاج المحلي بجانب الواردات القياسية في العام الماضي.
ويراوح سعر السكر للمستهلكين في السوق المصرية حاليا بين 28 و35 جنيها للكيلو، على أقصى تقدير، بحسب العرض والطلب في كل منطقة، وفق جولة أجرتها «العربية Business» في أسواق عدة بمحافظات الجيزة والقليوبية والغربية، ووفقا لهذه المستويات تكون أسعار السكر في مصر قد انخفضت من أعلى مستوى تاريخي سجلته في مطلع العام الماضي عند 60 جنيها للكيلوغرام، بعد أزمة نقص في المعروض بدأت في أكتوبر 2023.
تغطية فجوة الاستهلاك
وأعلن مجلس الوزراء المصري في مارس من عام 2024 خطة لاستيراد نحو مليون طن لتغطية فجوة الاستهلاك وتهدئة الأسعار القياسية.
واستوردت الحكومة المصرية خلال العام الماضي، كميات استثنائية من السكر الخام تجاوزت 750 ألف طن دخلت لصالح القطاعين العام والخاص، بحسب مصادر تحدثت مع «العربية Business».
وفي العام الحالي، ساعد الإنتاج القياسي للسكر في مصر على تهدئة أكبر في الأسعار، بعد تحقيق إنتاج تاريخي بإجمالي 2.964 مليون طن وبنسبة نمو 34% مقارنة بإنتاج بلغ 2.215 مليون طن في موسم إنتاج 2024، وفقا لبيانات رسمية اطلعت عليها «العربية Business».
عروض وتكاليف الإنتاج
وشهدت بعض سلاسل السوبر ماركت ومحال التجزئة عروضا على السكر لكميات 2 كيلوغرام بحد أقصى للفرد وبسعر يبلغ نحو 24.75 جنيه.
وقال مصدر في إحدى شركات السكر العاملة في مصر لـ«العربية Business»: «إن سعر السكر المكرر حاليا لا يتجاوز 24 ألف جنيه للطن من أرض المصنع لصالح شركات التعبئة والتغليف، بينما يصل إلى القطاع التجاري بعد التعبئة إلى 25.5 ألف جنيه تقريبا».
وأوضح المصدر أن ارتفاع الإنتاج المحلي كان كلمة السر في خفض الأسعار خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة، وأصبحت أسعار البيع حاليا لا تحقق هوامش أرباح تناسب تكاليف الإنتاج، وهو ما دفع الحكومة لحظر استيراد السكر المكرر في 13 نوفمبر الماضي لمدة 3 أشهر، لتجنب ارتفاع المعروض بصورة تؤثر على أعمال المصانع المحلية.
Sugar prices at Egyptian retail stores have fallen to their lowest level in about 25 months, specifically since November 2023, supported by a record increase in local production alongside last year's record imports.
The price of sugar for consumers in the Egyptian market currently ranges between 28 and 35 Egyptian pounds per kilogram, at most, depending on supply and demand in each area, according to a survey conducted by "Al Arabiya Business" in several markets in the Giza, Qalyubia, and Gharbia governorates. According to these levels, sugar prices in Egypt have decreased from the highest historical level recorded at the beginning of last year at 60 Egyptian pounds per kilogram, following a supply shortage crisis that began in October 2023.
Covering the Consumption Gap
The Egyptian Cabinet announced in March 2024 a plan to import about one million tons to cover the consumption gap and calm record prices.
The Egyptian government imported exceptional quantities of raw sugar last year, exceeding 750,000 tons, which benefited both the public and private sectors, according to sources who spoke with "Al Arabiya Business."
This year, record sugar production in Egypt has further calmed prices, achieving a historic production total of 2.964 million tons, with a growth rate of 34% compared to a production of 2.215 million tons in the 2024 production season, according to official data reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business."
Offers and Production Costs
Some supermarket chains and retail stores have seen offers on sugar for quantities of up to 2 kilograms per person at a price of about 24.75 Egyptian pounds.
A source from one of the sugar companies operating in Egypt told "Al Arabiya Business": "The price of refined sugar currently does not exceed 24,000 Egyptian pounds per ton at the factory gate for packaging companies, while it reaches the commercial sector after packaging at about 25,500 Egyptian pounds."
The source explained that the increase in local production was the key to reducing prices in recent weeks, and current selling prices do not achieve profit margins that match production costs, which prompted the government to ban the import of refined sugar on November 13 of last year for a period of three months, to avoid an increase in supply that would affect the operations of local factories.
