أصدرت إدارة الأغذية والعقاقير الأمريكية (FDA) مذكرة داخلية، تفيد بأن مراجعة أجرتها ربطت وفاة 10 أطفال على الأقل بلقاح كوفيد 19، مشيرة إلى أن السبب المحتمل يكمن في التهاب عضلة القلب (myocarditis) بعد التطعيم.
تضمنت المذكرة، أن الحالات التي شُرحت تنتمي إلى مجموعة من 96 وفاة بين عامي 2021 و2024، واعتُبرت 10 منها – على الأقل – مرتبطة بالتطعيم «بسبب محتمل أو مرجّح». لكن المذكرة لم تزد على ذلك، إذ لم تكشف عن أعمار الأطفال أو حالتهم الصحية الأساسية أو نوع اللقاحات التي تلقّوها أو الشركات المصنعة لها.
استجابة لهذا الكشف، أعلن مسؤولو «FDA» نية تشديد معايير الموافقة على اللقاحات مستقبلاً، خصوصاً للجرعات الموجهة للأطفال أو للرضع، إضافة إلى إعادة النظر في سياسة التطعيم للحوامل، والحد من إعطاء جرعات متعددة في فترات قصيرة.
مضاعفات أكثر خطورة
من جهة علمية وصحية، بعض الخبراء عبّروا عن تحفظهم، مشيرين إلى أن المذكرة لم تُنشر في مجلة طبية محكّمة، ولا تحتوي على بيانات تفصيلية (تشريح للجثث، تاريخ مرضي، ظروف وفاة). وبحسب تعليقاتهم، ربط حالات نادرة من التهاب القلب بعد اللقاح بحاجة إلى تفسير دقيق، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار أن عدوى كورونا نفسها يمكن أن تسبب مضاعفات أكثر خطورة.
المعطيات المتاحة اليوم تضع المجتمع أمام معادلة صعبة: لقاحات أنقذت ملايين الأرواح، لكنها — وفق هذا التقرير الجديد — قد تحمل في حالات نادرة جداً مخاطر تستدعي إعادة تقييم السياسات. المستفيد من اللقاح ليس فقط الطفل بل المجتمع بأكمله، لكن في المقابل يتطلب الأمر شفافية كاملة في البيانات ومراجعة دقيقة ومستقلة من الأوساط الطبية قبل التوصل إلى استنتاجات قطعية.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an internal memo stating that a review linked the deaths of at least 10 children to the COVID-19 vaccine, indicating that the potential cause may be myocarditis following vaccination.
The memo included that the cases described belong to a group of 96 deaths between 2021 and 2024, with at least 10 of them considered "possibly or likely" related to vaccination. However, the memo did not provide further details, as it did not disclose the ages of the children, their underlying health conditions, the types of vaccines they received, or the manufacturers of those vaccines.
In response to this revelation, FDA officials announced their intention to tighten approval standards for vaccines in the future, especially for doses aimed at children or infants, in addition to reconsidering vaccination policies for pregnant women and limiting the administration of multiple doses in short periods.
More Serious Complications
From a scientific and health perspective, some experts expressed their reservations, noting that the memo was not published in a peer-reviewed medical journal and lacked detailed data (such as autopsy reports, medical history, circumstances of death). According to their comments, linking rare cases of heart inflammation following vaccination requires precise explanation, considering that the COVID-19 infection itself can cause more serious complications.
The available data today places society in front of a difficult equation: vaccines that have saved millions of lives, but according to this new report, may carry in very rare cases risks that warrant a reevaluation of policies. The beneficiary of the vaccine is not just the child but the entire community; however, this requires complete transparency in data and a thorough and independent review from medical circles before reaching definitive conclusions.
