خيّم الحزن والقلق على الشارع الأردني عقب تزايد حالات الوفاة الناتجة عن الاختناق بمدفأة تُعرف باسم «الشموسة»، بعدما ارتفعت الحصيلة إلى 10 أشخاص خلال يومين فقط. هذا التطور المأساوي أعاد إلى الواجهة مخاطر وسائل التدفئة غير الآمنة، ودفع الجهات المختصة إلى التحرّك العاجل عبر تشكيل لجنة تحقيق للوقوف على جميع الملابسات والأسباب التي أدت إلى هذه الحوادث، في مسعى لمنع تكرارها وحماية أرواح المواطنين.
وبحسب وسائل الإعلام المحلية، لم يكد الأردنيون يستفيقون من صدمة وفاة 4 أشخاص من عائلة واحدة نتيجة إصابتهم بضيق في التنفس؛ إثر تسرب غاز المدفأة في منطقة الهاشمية بمحافظة الزرقاء الخميس، حتى شهدت المحافظة نفسها الجمعة، وفاة 5 أشخاص من عائلة واحدة أيضاً وللسبب ذاته، قبل أن يتكرر المشهد بوفاة شاب عمره 19 عاماً في العاصمة عمّان أمس (السبت).
من جانبها، قالت مديرية الأمن العام الأردنية إنّه جرى التحفظ احترازياً على 5000 مدفأة داخل المصانع التي تقوم بتصنيعها، إضافة إلى منع بيعها بالمحلات التجارية، وأُرسلت كافّة العينات من المدافئ التي أخذت من المصانع والمحلات ومن البيوت التي تعرّض ساكنوها للاختناق للجمعية العلمية الملكية لإجراء الفحوص عليها وتحديد أسباب الوفيات.
وكانت مديرية الأمن العام الأردنية قد دعت المواطنين ممن يملكون المدفأة المتعارف عليها بـ«الشموسة» وبأنواعها كافة إلى إيقاف استخدامها على الفور وعدم إشعالها داخل المنازل تحت أي ظرف كان.
وأكّد المتحدث باسم المديرية، ضرورة أخذ هذا التحذير على غاية من الأهمية بعد أن ثبت أن حالات الاختناق التي وقعت خلال الـ24 ساعة الماضية اشتركت بالنوع ذاته للمدفأة.
لكن الشركة المنتجة لتلك المدفأة، أصدرت من جهتها بياناً حذرت فيه من الإساءة لها.
Sadness and anxiety have enveloped the Jordanian street following the increase in deaths resulting from suffocation by a heater known as "Al-Shamosa," after the toll rose to 10 people in just two days. This tragic development has brought back to the forefront the dangers of unsafe heating methods, prompting the relevant authorities to take urgent action by forming an investigation committee to look into all the circumstances and causes that led to these incidents, in an effort to prevent their recurrence and protect the lives of citizens.
According to local media, Jordanians barely recovered from the shock of the death of 4 people from the same family due to respiratory distress caused by a gas leak from the heater in the Hashmiya area of Zarqa Governorate on Thursday, when the same governorate witnessed on Friday the death of 5 people from another family for the same reason, before the scene repeated with the death of a 19-year-old young man in the capital, Amman, yesterday (Saturday).
For its part, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate stated that 5,000 heaters have been precautionarily seized from the factories that manufacture them, in addition to banning their sale in retail stores. All samples of the heaters taken from factories, stores, and homes where residents suffered from suffocation have been sent to the Royal Scientific Society for testing and determining the causes of the deaths.
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate had called on citizens who own the heater known as "Al-Shamosa" in all its types to stop using it immediately and not to ignite it inside homes under any circumstances.
The spokesperson for the directorate emphasized the importance of taking this warning very seriously after it was confirmed that the suffocation cases that occurred in the past 24 hours were linked to the same type of heater.
However, the company producing that heater issued a statement warning against misrepresenting it.
