دشّن أمير قطر الشيخ تميم بن حمد حفل افتتاح بطولة كأس العرب قطر 2025 بملعب استاد البيت بالخور، بحضور وزير الرياضة رئيس الاتحاد العربي لكرة القدم الأمير عبدالعزيز بن تركي الفيصل، ورئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «FIFA» جياني إنفانتينو، ونخبة من نجوم الكرة العالمية. وشهد الحفل عروضاً فنية وغنائية لعدد من كبار المطربين والفنانين والألعاب النارية التي أضاءت محيط الملعب.

واستهل منتخب قطر مشواره في البطولة بالخسارة من منتخب فلسطين بهدف قاتل من لاعب قطر سلطان البريك بالخطأ في مرمى منتخب بلاده، واصطدم الهجوم القطري بدفاع قوي من منتخب فلسطين الذي اعتمد مدربه إيهاب أبو جزر على التكتل الدفاعي والاعتماد على الهجمات المرتدة، وكاد منتخب فلسطين أن يسجل في الربع ساعة الأخيرة من عمر اللقاء، بعد أن مرر المهاجم زيد قنبر برأسه كرة قصيرة لزميله البديل أحمد القاق ولكنه سدّد الكرة فوق العارضة رغم مواجهته للمرمى، ومن ثم لعب وجدي نبهان كرة عرضية أرضية مرت بجوار القائم، وفي الوقت بدل الضائع ومن كرة عرضية أودع المدافع القطري سلطان البريك الكرة في مرمى منتخب بلاده بالخطأ (د: 90+4)، لينتصر منتخب فلسطين بهدف دون مقابل، وهو أول انتصار له في تاريخ المسابقة، ليحصد المنتخب الفلسطيني النقاط الثلاث، فيما بقي منتخب قطر دون نقاط.

وفي ذات المجموعة، فاز منتخب سورية على نظيره المنتخب التونسي بهدف دون مقابل جاء عن طريق قائده عمر خريبين من ركلة حرة مباشرة من خارج منطقة الجزاء، ورغم أن المنتخب التونسي اقترب كثيراً من إدراك التعادل بعدما كثّف ضغطه في الثلث الأخير من الملعب، ووصل إلى عدد من الهجمات الخطيرة داخل منطقة الجزاء، إلا أن الحارس السوري شاهر الشاكر تألق في إبعاد جميع الكرات، وكانت أخطرها تسديدة إسماعيل الغربي من داخل منطقة الجزاء في الوقت بدل الضائع، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز سورية بهدف دون مقابل، ليحصد المنتخب السوري أول 3 نقاط، فيما بقي منتخب تونس دون نقاط.

وفي الجولة القادمة سيلاقي منتخب تونس نظيره الفلسطيني، فيما يواجه قطر منتخب سورية، وذلك يوم الخميس القادم.

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Arab Cup Qatar 2025 at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, in the presence of the Minister of Sports and President of the Arab Football Association, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and a selection of global football stars. The ceremony featured artistic and musical performances by several prominent singers and artists, along with fireworks that illuminated the stadium's surroundings.

The Qatari national team began its campaign in the tournament with a loss to the Palestinian national team, conceding a last-minute goal from Qatari player Sultan Al-Breik, who accidentally scored an own goal. The Qatari attack faced strong defense from the Palestinian team, whose coach Ihab Abu Jazar relied on a defensive setup and counter-attacks. The Palestinian team nearly scored in the last fifteen minutes of the match when striker Zaid Qanbar headed a short ball to his substitute teammate Ahmad Al-Qaq, but he shot over the crossbar despite being face-to-face with the goal. Then, Wajdi Nabhan played a low cross that went past the post. In stoppage time, from a cross, Qatari defender Sultan Al-Breik accidentally put the ball into his own net (90+4), leading to a 1-0 victory for the Palestinian team, marking their first win in the tournament's history, earning them three points, while Qatar remained without points.

In the same group, the Syrian national team defeated their Tunisian counterparts 1-0, with the goal coming from their captain Omar Khribin via a direct free kick from outside the penalty area. Although the Tunisian team came close to equalizing after intensifying their pressure in the final third of the field and creating several dangerous attacks inside the penalty area, Syrian goalkeeper Shaher Al-Shakir excelled in saving all the shots, the most dangerous of which was a strike from Ismail Al-Gharbi inside the penalty area during stoppage time. The match ended with Syria winning 1-0, allowing the Syrian team to earn their first three points, while Tunisia remained without points.

In the upcoming round, Tunisia will face Palestine, while Qatar will meet Syria, on the coming Thursday.
